Portraits and Self-Portraits
Experiment the lighting:
Experiment the lighting:
Another element of randomness that you can introduce to your portraits is the way that you light them. There are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to using light in portraits.
Side-lighting can create mood, backlighting and silhouetting your subject to hide their features can be powerful.
Take a Series of shots:
Switch your camera into ‘burst’ or ‘continuous shooting’ mode and fire off more than one shot at a time. In doing this you create a series of images that could be presented together instead of just one static image. This technique can work very well when you’re photographing children – or really any active subject that is changing their position or pose in quick succession.
Engaging your object:
The first order of business is to engage your subject. This is where we all have to learn to overcome our shyness and approach people in an open and friendly manner. Be up front about who you are and what you're doing. Don't just barge into a scene with your cameras blazing. In fact, it is usually best to leave your camera in its bag when you first approach people, so as not to frighten them. Take time to engage the person in conversation, just as you would if you didn't have a camera. Remember the Golden Rule. Think about how you'd feel if someone approached you and wanted to make a photograph. How they did it would determine how you would respond.
This is the first one of the "Environmental Portrait" photos I am supposed to choose.

This is the second one of the "Environmental Portraits" photos I am supposed to choose.
I like it cause it catches all of her interests engineering and boys being a 25 feet radius of her.
MY SELF-PORTRAIT:
I will go to the first soccer field I played on with a Soccer ball. And I will go in the middle of a field and take a photo of myself lined up to kick the ball. That will reflect on my whole childhood and life. Then it will lead up to a really cool picture.
